Sony Ericsson launched the W960 – a very high-end Walkman phone with a whooping 8GB memory storage. This newest addition to the mobile phone stable of Sony Ericsson is often times compared to Apple’s iPhone. Both have touch screen, music player, and video player. Both have cameras- 2 megapixel for iPhone and 3.2 megapixels for W960; virtual keyboard for iPhone and physical and handwriting recognition for W960.

A very noteworthy feature of Sony Ericsson W960 is that it is available to all operators and of course this mobile phone is 3G. The W960 is a great looker. It has a very classy and elegant look. There is no mistaking that this mobile phone is a music phone with the play, stop, fast forward and rewind buttons prominently displayed.

Without a doubt, W960’s main purpose is music. Storing up to 8,000 tunes is easy with the 8GB Memory Stick. Sorting through the playlist is also easy with the Walkman 3.0 application. Through the Media Manager programme the user can easily transfer tunes from the PC to the phone via USB.

Just like any other Walkman phones, W960 is equipped with TrackID. This TrackID tells the user the title of the song and the artist. The trackID of W960, however, gives more information like the biography of the artist.

The 3.2 megapixel camera’s capability is enhanced by the auto focus to give excellent quality pictures. The W960 has the ability to shoot and playback DVD quality videos at 30 frames per second. Another remarkable feature of this mobile phone is the touchscreen. By using a finger or a stylus, the user can browse the video, the cover art collection as well as navigate through the 8000 tunes.
